Rachel Freeny is a recent transplant to Atlanta and is learning to love this crazy city one traffic jam at a time. Originally from Nashville, she received her Bachelor of Science in Journalism/Mass Communication from Samford University in Birmingham, Ala. During her time in Birmingham, she had the opportunity to intern with the Women’s Missionary Union and Birmingham magazine. She served as Photo Editor and staff writer for Exodus magazine, a student publication, during her senior year at Samford.

Rachel writes because she is a firm believer that everyone has a story that needs to be told. Stories connect us to each other. Stories have the power to influence and shape culture. Stories matter. She wants to be a voice for those stories that have no one else to tell them.

In addition to writing, Rachel also enjoys telling stories through photography. She loves to explore, and you’ll rarely find her without her camera. Thankfully, she has sweet friends who humor her and join her on her expeditions.

For the past three summers, Rachel has served as a bible study leader and Assistant Director for Fuge camps. Through Fuge, she was able to spend a week serving in Senegal. She is passionate about joining in God’s mission in the world, and her time at Fuge camps affirmed her call to seminary. While at McAfee, she is pursuing an M.Div. in Global Christianity. She is excited to join Tableaux this semester and tell the stories of what God is doing at McAfee, in Atlanta and throughout the world.
